Rabun-Dodson-Pope Post 70

As we prepare to celebrate the 4th of July, I would like to take this opportunity to "Thank" all the Post 70 Family Members for the support you have given me as your Commander over the last six (6) years.  As I step down, I turn it over to another Commander who has the enthusiasm and vision to lead you into another phase of growing the Post and maintaining the four pillars in which the American Legion was founded (Veterans Affairs, National Security, Americanism, and Children and Youth).  "Thank" you again for allowing me to be your Commander and I truly hope that I have not disappointed you in any way in deeds or actions.  The American Legion is my passsion and I love helping Veterans in any way.  I am also very proud of my wife (Thea) who has been by my side during this entire journey and she shares the same passion as I for the Post and Veterans.  We are not going anywhere and we both will still be a part of the Post 70 family and will continue to help wherever needed.  We have accomplished a lot together over the last six (6) years and the Post continues to grow in membership each year.  The membership is up to 292 members at this time and when we started it only had 105. We also improved the overall appearance of the Post and have increased the size so Veterans truly have a nice place to come for relaxation, entertainment and comraderie.  The Post Executive Board of the Post have all been remarkable over the years and have truly supported me in all my efforts.  I commend all of them.  I could go on on on with accolades for the entire Post family but it woud be reduntant.  My hats off to you all.  Dwight Bell will be your new Post Commander.  I ask that you all support him and give him the respect and encouragement that you all gave to me over the last 6 years.  He will be a great Commander.  Again, "Thanks" for allowing me to be your Commander.
